Daljit is a scout leader, a compassionate wonderful person whom has spent decades volunteering in the UK and across the world helping others through scouting. He’s a friend whom I never fail to feel happy after talking too. His portrait, conducted over the internet because of the pandemic from a photograph captures his sensitivity and thoughtfulness -although not perhaps his mischievous sense of humour.  The multiple neckerchief add that send of how many roles and responsibilities Daljit takes on to support, educate and empower others in his volunteering. A portrait of Desmond Tutu, painted for an interfaith event in India in 2018. I tired to capture not just his faith, but his humanity, his statue as a great leader and Rights campaigner. It is also evident from anyone that has met him that he has an element of compassionate mischief to him, a love of laughter and joy.  By using the angle of his glasses, raised up in happiness and a smile emerging I hope I captured this. Windswept trees and colourful seas.

A quick stroll and sketch alone and along the seafront in Clevedon this morning, resulted in some sketches, some small paintings and a larger study.  It's always a pleasure to say hello and share my work in progress with passers-by; Socially Distanced at present of course! Here is the sketch of the famous windswept trees at the sea front and the small weather shelter. I'm thinking I may base a future Lino-carving print on this sketch in the future.
